Christmas Fair
The OFA Christms Fair Roundup
When Chetan first suggested live reindeer, I assumed that he might be joking...but no...! I love that the philosophy of 'never fear the unknown' runs through our parents as well as pupils! The grotto team built a stunning scene that lit the imaginations of all visitors and provided the centrepiece of the day.
Year 2 sang beautifully bringing real Christmas heart to a Saturday that followed a genuinely Black Friday! Long may we remember what this season is actually about. And the children ran stalls full of fun and laughter. St George's Hall had some lovely boutique stalls catering for all tastes!
Talking of catering, nobody went home hungry as the OFS kitchen team kept food coming and James kept the mulled wine cauldron bubbling! For me, the highlight was seeing parents finding time to talk life whilst children busied themselves running and visiting stalls.
Thank you to the OFA team for putting together such a wonderful day...you even managed the weather to perfection. I'm heading home to remove makeup and nail varnish...!

Magic and sparkle was in abundance on Saturday at the Orley Farm Christmas Fair. It was a generous helping of magic that brought alive the newly created Winter Wonderland and a dash of sparkle from delighted children that made it such a fun and memorable fair.
Fortune favours the brave so well done to the PP Christmas elves who bravely created a wonderful outdoor Christmas grotto. A 30 ft high avant garde Christmas tree, courtesy of the tee-pee and several hundred bin liners, took centre stage much to the amazement of children and adults alike. Santa, meanwhile, was tucked away, by his fireplace, and his reindeer were not too far away. And surrounding this were swarms of excited little ones keen to see Santa and pet the reindeer. Santa's owl also made a very special appearance at Orley Farm!
The Sport Hall was full of the old favourites; the lucky dip and tombola never fail to disappoint. Alongside these were the children's stalls - ranging from racing cars around a scalextric track to a nail bar, Nerf gun shoot outs to face painting. Well done to all the kids (and parents) who set up and supported those stalls - with a little nudge from Miss Hehir.
Reindeers successfully lead the way to the Secret Room, which continues to enchant. There with lots of enthusiastic and generous children taking a moment to remember their parents! And fortunately, if you are a Secret room gift recipient, rest assured, a thing of beauty awaits you under the tree.
Y2 children reminded us of what Christmas is really about, games, sweets and presents aside, with their carols around the piano. Thank you to Miss Toyn and the other PP teachers for “a ray of hope”.
Parents were kept entertained with the raffle and tombola, and some excellent prizes were kindly donated by members of the School Community. There was even a quirky Christmas Jumper Competition, see some of the best contenders here.
Food at OFA events never fails to disappoint, mixing the traditional with the new - Belgian waffles and Thai green curry while kitchen staff served up burgers, chips and samosas. Coffee Affair kept us warm with hot drinks and our very own "Klaus" Patel ensured we had sausages, if not bratwurst.
So, well done to all those who made the Fair possible and to everyone who came along, we hope you had a good time.
We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
